I think gamespot's 5.0 (out of 10.0) for Monster Hunter 2 is out of line . Goes to show the bias in its system. They're probably paid to rate high.

More than once have I seen a good game, not rated for what it's worth. In any case, I still go there to see what games are available for whatever genre I feel like playing.

No, it shows that the reviewers are using real ratings. 5 being average, 10 being best-thing-ever, 0 being worst. In their view, Monster Hunter was average. We're bent on a system where 5 is worst, and 10 is best. 0 is unthinkable.

On a second point -- of course they're paid to be bias. How could you NOT be bias? Every game would have a 10. Now, I doubt that they are paid for high ratings, but they are definitely biased.

What I'm trying to say, and Fuzzie as well I'd suppose, is that Monster Hunter is better than just "average". Don't get me wrong, I certainly understand 5.0 isn't the lowest it gets, but I would think it would be awarded better. It compares with games like Alien Syndrome, and ones with higher ratings such as Chess Kingdoms, according to them.

It certainly a deserves a higher rating than "average", even if they are milking the title a bit. It's a fun game, and should have a higher rating than Chess. As usual, that's my opinion, but I'd think anyone else that tried the game would agree.

First of all Monster Hunter 2 is NOT and average game, it is was i wouldn't complain and people will not argue. It had good graphics, good sound and (arguably) good gameplay.

Secondly, the people at gamespot thinks that you can't rotate the camera while moving. THIS IS MISINFORMATION. They probably have downloaded the ISO so the can't read the give manual. There IS an alternative to pressing the d-pad for rotating the camera, you can comfortably move your character with the analog stick and tap (just tap) R to center your view. This is already made clear in the manual.

Thirdly, the people at gamespot claims that crafting is now worse. I don't see how this holds true. In fact, it has improved! It is the exact same thing except that you can preview the new equipment and upgrade armor. Now, you even have a wider range of equipment and equipment classes.

Fourthly, gamespot thinks the main idea of the game is to farm. WTF? I believe the game title is "Monster Hunter" not "Just a Farmer". If you want to farm, go get Harvest Moon. The main focus of the game IS to hunt monsters, improve your equipment and take on larger monsters. The farm is just merely OPTIONAL. You can even complete the game if you ignore it completely.

"z0mg, I can see the equipment before it's being made, I can't stand this, it's too much for my feeble brainpower that cannot comprehend what "center view" function is for and now i can't defeat the giant four-story crab so i can't upgrade the stupid farm...."

Lastly, there is a vast difference between personal bias and true bias. Everybody has differing personal views. Noting this will definitely eliminate bias from writing. The problem is, Gamespot didn't even think the game is good enough for anybody.

Granted, I, for one, should be giving negative points about the game too - no game will ever be perfect. But the main thing I'm trying to say is that gamespot reviewers fail to stop and ponder about the points they themselves are writing.
